January vlog with Dr. Stan

I Want to Be Like You Dad
(Excerpt from this timeless treasure.)

The dysfunctional family is the disease of today’s society. Over the last several years, we have seen the development of numerous kinds of self-help groups designed to bring healing and restoration to those who have been broken through the ills of our society.  These societal ills include (but are not limited to) alcohol and drug abuse, a 50% plus divorce rate, domestic violence and those stresses brought about by poverty and racism.

Until recently, the Church has been dormant. Now, they have joined the bandwagon of the self-help movement. Much good has come from this as churches have recognized the responsibility to minister to those who are hurting.

Yet, as is often the case, the Church moves forward with little or no conscious recognition of God’s plan, His design, His purpose and His objective.  God desires to fill up (bring to fullness) all things in Christ and to develop the Church, the Body of Christ, to become whole and complete in preparation for the coming of the Lord.

God is definitely restoring His church!  But, in order to restore the Church, the individual people of the family of God must be restored.  Eventually, the nations must be turned, through the Gospel of Jesus Christ, to righteousness and holiness. As many of the prophets of our day have echoed, “it’s a time for the healing of the breech,” which is spoken of in Isaiah 58:12 (NIV).

“Your people will rebuild the ancient ruins and will raise up the age-old foundations; you will be called Repairer of Broken Walls, Restorer of Streets with Dwellings.”

It is now the time to see the brokenness in relationships healed and individuals restored in preparation for God’s end-time move!

To bring restoration to broken places, the patterns human beings live by, whether they be functional or fragmented, must be examined and understood.  It is essential to observe them from both a Biblical and a psychological/social viewpoint.  Beginning with generational patterns, we are going to see how the symptoms of dysfunctional behavior are passed on from generation to generation. We will observe in the spiritual realm how generational curses or patterns of negative, maladaptive thoughts, emotions, beliefs and behavior are transmitted from generation to generation.

Along with reviewing and analyzing these patterns, biblical truths will be brought to light to facilitate the process of healing and restoration provided to individuals and the Body of Christ via the power of God. Using God’s Word, prayer and spiritual disciplines, negative patterns, iniquity of the fathers, or “curses” will be broken, new wholesome patterns will be reestablished, leading to more effective and purposeful living. The problems the Church is facing today seem overwhelming. In spite of what is seen, the reality is that all things are in the Father’s control.

The Lord can be trusted to afford mankind with the answers vitally needed to provide necessary direction to produce healing and restoration for the wounded in the Body of Christ.  To begin our understanding, there are three questions often posed by someone raised in a dysfunctional family:

  1. Who am I?
  2. What is my purpose?
  3. What must I do to be safe?

These questions must be resolved for an individual to be able to fulfill our destiny in God.  To each of the questions there are varying sincere responses.  They range from the material to the spiritual, from the ridiculous to the sublime.

Vision World Zone Update

World Zone –Pakistan and India

“Just the Tamil language alone will touch millions…India is ripe for Vision” Pastor Robert Nesan, Kuwait.

As you can see, this nearly 1.5 billion people are a large target group, and eventually we hope to have many additional directors over these various areas, perhaps broken down by language group.

As of today, Vision has Bible schools in Southern India. In Pakistan we have some schools as well, with the limited amount of Urdu language materials we have. We also have a school in Nepal. We are actively translating materials into Tamil, which reaches Southern India and Sri Lanka, where we have some schools established.

Dr. Steve Mills and Dr. John Ezekiel work together in leading our World Zone outreach from Kuwait and Malaysia respectively, while Harold and Linda assist us in Pakistan, as benefactors of the colleges planted there.

Worldcast Ministries

Worldcast Ministries & Publishing was founded by Harold and Linda Eberle in 2000. They began their ministry by pastoring a church for six years in the Northwest US, beginning in 1980. After a fruitful season pastoring, Harold felt a call to travel and minister to the larger Body of Christ. Since that time, Harold has become known in churches around the world. He is a popular conference speaker and visiting instructor at numerous Bible Colleges. In 2015, Linda joined Harold on the road full-time, after she retired from 15 years of teaching second and third graders.

About 1/3 of Harold’s energies are invested in foreign nations, while the rest is invested in the USA. He has ministered in dozens of countries, with special focus on three regions. In 1990, he began working in the Philippines helping Pastor Eddie Deita establish a Bible College, facilitating strong leaders on the island of Mindanao. Then in 1996, Harold began spending extensive time in central Africa, where he worked with Dr. Weston Gitonga to establish 11 Bible Colleges in seven countries.

Since 2010, Harold has focused his ministry in the Middle East, where he is working and investing time ministering in the Muslim-dominated areas of the world.

December vlog Part 2 with Dr. Stan

From a Father’s Heart Part 2

How great is God? He is immeasurable, incomprehensible, yet knowable. God is love, full of Grace and mercy, infinitely good. How great is man? Man is virtually nothing in comparison.  Mankind is now and forever will be totally dependent upon God, the maker and sustainer of all life. To fear the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and knowledge. To obtain wisdom, which is essential for success in the future, is to respect God and His Word.

Another picture of God’s greatness and our need for him is found in Proverbs 6:20-23.

My son, observe the commandment of your father And do not forsake the teaching of your mother; Bind them continually on your heart; Tie them around your neck.  When you walk about, they will guide you; When you sleep, they will watch over you; And when you awake, they will talk to you. For the commandment is a lamp and the teaching is light; And reproofs for discipline are the way of life.”

The commandments and teachings are inclusive of the general words of truth from mom and dad, but most specifically from God’s Word. Binding them to your heart comes through study, quiet reflection, meditation and prayer. As you allow God’s Word to sink deeply into your heart, the Holy Spirit will guide, give protection, and sweetly speak to you from the Father’s heart. Many times I have gone to sleep meditating on God and ruminating on a problem, only to awaken with a fresh answer and assurance of God’s direction.

Of course, it takes discipline, often correction, to access the principles of God and His Word. Nevertheless, God really is as close as a whispered prayer.

It is important to remember that God does have a wonderful purpose for all of His children. The prophet Jeremiah echoes this truth in the 29th chapter of Jeremiah, verses 11-13:

“’For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.  ‘Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. ‘You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.

What a wonderful promise. Of course, God’s plans for our daily existence do not always work out so smoothly. Each day is filled with challenges. But God has the blessed perspective of the beginning and end at a glance. He knows that ultimately all things do work together for good to them that love the Lord. (Romans 8:28)

December Vlog with Dr. Stan

From a Father’s Heart

What is Essential?

Well, let’s just dive into this…conception is essential. From a most significant, intimate, prayerfully planned and wonderful encounter, God brings forth life, the continuation of God’s purpose for mankind. From such a small beginning, have all of us come.

It may seem as though chance plays a part in our existence. How often my children asked the question, “Why did God place us in the DeKoven family?”  I’ll never know. But, I’m certain they asked. At times the question seemed important, at times trite. All I know is it was and is God’s sovereign will for my children to have been born in our family, and others to theirs. No accident of evolution or mere act of passion, though the environment of sin and generational iniquities effect us all, caused my children, born in the image of God, to be in our family. They were born out of God’s great design and foreknowledge, and have every potential for good or evil, hope or despair. What is essential?  Conception, God, Fear of the Lord, family, love, faith, suffering (unfortunate but true).

“Come, you children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the LORD.” (Psalms 34:11)

There is no greater lesson to learn than a genuine awe and respect for God. In this past generation, God has become friend, supplier, even rescuer. He is and does these things, but He is so much more. If I could transmit anything to a young person starting their adult road it would be to seek a full awareness of the awesomeness of God in His holiness, majesty and power. God’s Word is full of descriptive pictures of God’s greatness. The reason we as His people should always honor, revere and respect Him is because of His marvelous grace and mercy towards us. Just a few examples might paint an adequate though woefully incomplete picture.

In the morning, O LORD, You will hear my voice; In the morning I will order my prayer to You and eagerly watch. (Psalm 5:3)

How incredible to imagine that the God of the universe condescends to hear our voice in prayer and will answer us.

“All the ends of the earth will remember and turn to the LORD, and all the families of the nations will worship before You. For the kingdom is the LORD’S and He rules over the nations.” (Psalm 22:27-28)

“The earth is the LORD’S, and all it contains, the world, and those who dwell in it.” (Psalm 24:1)
