Today’s case study involves a family that suddenly find itself plunged into a healthcare crisis involving one of breadwinners. How will they cope without a strong support system? Do you know how to help?
Yesterday, Rochelle, her spouse Jason, and their children were your typical suburban middle-class family. They had normal problems and challenges; but nothing that was out of the ordinary, and nothing that they could not handle. Then suddenly, their family life was turned totally upside down by an unexpected medical crisis. A skiing accident left Jason in a coma with no promise that he would live or recover.
In just one day, life for this family has been changed forever. Grief sets in, leaving them in shock and uncertain of what to do or where to turn. They are devastated beyond belief. Help is needed. The hospital chaplain may help guide them through the initial crisis and help them find hope for the future.
