While pastors give spiritual care to the people in their congregations, there is a need for spiritual caregivers in many different settings, not just within the walls of the local church.
Hospital, jails, prisons, military, police and fire stations, and even in government just to name a few. Our local church pastors cannot be everywhere and care for everyone in need. That is why there is such a need for chaplains to help with people in crisis.
How many of these qualities apply to you?

- Impartial non-judgmental listener.
- Neutral and nurturing spiritual caregiver.
- Love helping people and their families manage and respond to basic personal life, health, and work issues.

This reminds me of a well-known bible story, the story of the “Good Samaritan.” We know that several passed this injured man by before the good Samaritan happened along. He bound his wounds and gave him the nourishment and shelter he would need to recover. The Good Samaritan cared. Do you?
People in the midst of a personal crisis, be it legal, medical, or social …. need someone to lean on until they can stand on their own. A spiritual caregiver helps the hurting become whole and strong again. Chaplains are spiritual caregivers that provide the needed support. Are you called to care for others in crisis?
