Description
When most students approach a course on psychological assessment, they do so with natural trepidation. Questions occur about the need for such tools. Are they helpful? Can’t we just “trust the Holy Spirit”?
Well, we certainly do need the Holy Spirit’s guidance when counseling someone. However, it is also helpful to gather as much information as possible regarding the client before the treatment begins. Many young counselors make serious mistakes in counseling people due to a lack of clear understanding of the individual’s, couple’s, or a group’s real problems.
The reader will be given the appropriate measurement tools for self-assessment as well as other assessment tools that they will need to become proficient as counselors. Students will need to experience evaluation from both sides. That is, one must be familiar with the process of assessment from the counselor’s view and the counselee’s view. Thus, conducting assessments will be a part of the repertoire of a proficient counselor.
