Description
What are we chasing? This was the question that came to mind after observing many church services from diverse groups of Christians in different parts of the world. My observation was this: There seems to be a rather frantic pursuit of all things spiritual in certain circles. In contrast, many in the body of Christ seem complacent, happy to simply go to church and disengage from evangelism, missions, or even real fellowship. It is said that wildfire is better than no fire at all, but I suppose even that depends on the winds and where one is standing.
My point is simply this: As believers in the 21st century, are there things we must do to ensure our life in God is moving in a healthy direction? If there are, what are those things, and more succinctly, should the things we pursue be revival, renewal, refreshing, or retirement? Maybe I am just getting old (that really goes without saying), but my questions come down to: What are we to rest in? What are we to strive for?
One thing seems sure. Whether rest or pursuit, it all (should) begins with Christ and ends with Christ. Thus, this question has been on my mind, and I dare say on the minds of many others in Christendom. It is a question I hope you will explore with me, as did the wonderful congregation of Frequency Church in Fontana, California, a congregation lead by Pastors Gary, Gina, and Kalina Holley.
